When Mindy Davey was finishing inpatient treatment for opioid addiction, she recalls, "I wanted to go home and just write music. And so I did just that. I picked up my guitar for the first time in years. And that's when I was like, 'Wow. I missed this.'"
The Buffalo, New York–based pop and hip-hop artist rekindled her passion and drew new inspiration from everywhere, particularly her newborn daughter, Arianna. A decade later—Davey will celebrate 10 years of sobriety in September—she has auditioned for America's Got Talent and continued to record and perform, with a new album, Destiny, out later this year. Sobriety, she says, "has given me life; it's given me purpose." Get to know Mindy, her music and her recovery journey in this All Sober video spotlight!
