What is an intervention?

An intervention is a planned and organized effort to help someone you love begin to heal from addiction. It is usually arranged by concerned family members, friends and coworkers and led by experienced, qualified intervention professionals.

The goal is to help the person struggling with substance issues (or behavioral or mental health problems) get the treatment they need and embark on a path toward a hopeful future. The process also provides support to you, the family and friends, along the way.

Our intervention team

Our interventionists have advanced degrees in fields like psychology and social work. They have years of experience leading successful interventions, working with individuals and their families to guide them toward a life free from addiction where everyone can thrive again.

Our intervention services include the following steps.

  • Preparation: Our interventionists will meet with family members, friends and coworkers to gather information about your loved one's situation, identify the appropriate treatment and help coordinate with the chosen treatment facility to plan for admission. They will also identify an appropriate location for the intervention itself, ideally a place where your loved one feels safe and comfortable. They will then rehearse the intervention with you to ensure that everything runs as smoothly as possible and answer any questions you may have.
  • The intervention: We know you and the person you love are hurting. We believe addiction must be met with compassion — and that a brighter, sober future is possible. On the day of the intervention, our team will present your loved one with specific examples of the effects of their addiction on those around them and give everyone involved the opportunity to express their desire for the person to accept help. The team will also present your loved one with a clear plan for treatment and recovery so they can see that, with treatment, recovery from addiction is achievable, sustainable and absolutely worthwhile.
  • Presentation of a solution: The team will present the individual with a clear plan for treatment and recovery, including options for getting help, as well as the consequences if they refuse help.
  • Follow-up: Our interventionist team will follow up with your loved one during treatment to ensure they are receiving the care and support they deserve — and will also support the family and friends at every step of the way.

How Much Does an Intervention Cost?

The cost of an intervention can vary greatly depending on several factors, such as the location, the type of intervention, the length of treatment and the type of interventionist. Some factors that can influence the cost of an intervention:

  • Location: Interventions can be held in a variety of locations, such as a private home or a rehabilitation facility, and the cost of each location can vary.
  • Type of intervention: Different types of interventions can have different costs, with some being more complex or requiring more resources than others.
  • Length of treatment: The cost of an intervention can be influenced by the length of treatment recommended for the individual. Longer treatment programs, because of their duration, may increase the overall cost of an intervention.
