From MTV Host to Voice of Recovery Who’s Seen It All: Matt Pinfield Joins the All Sober Platform

In the mid-’90s heyday of music videos on TV, Matt Pinfield took the mic on MTV’s beloved “120 Minutes,” guiding viewers to discover new music from the defining hitmakers of the era — Radiohead, No Doubt, Alice in Chains, Tori Amos, Sublime, Weezer and countless others.

As a DJ, TV host, Columbia Records A&R executive, memoirist and, now, podcaster and radio host, Matt has lived a heady life immersed in music and formed lasting friendships with the greats of the ’90s, ’00s and today. He has also found lasting sobriety, and he uses his broad-reaching platforms to speak candidly about addiction and advocate passionately for recovery. On his 95.5 KLOS show New & Approved and podcast Sound, Sobriety and Success, Matt has interviewed artists and personalities from Jack Black to Dr. Drew Pinksy to Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon.

Reflecting on 14 years of sobriety, Matt says, “For me, it was about completely changing my thought process — and immersing myself in a program that would help me navigate a new life of recovery. It changed everything — and I wake up every day with gratitude for the clarity and ability to live in the moment free of the chains that were holding me back from living a spiritual, more fulfilling life.”

We’re excited to welcome Matt to the All Sober platform, where he’ll be sharing posts about music and sobriety, as well as new podcast episodes, videos and events. Be sure to follow Matt’s page for insights, news and snapshots from a (sober) rock ‘n’ roll life!
