Roads to Recovery: Mindy Davey

The singer-songwriter shares how music and unexpected inspiration helped her overcome her struggles with addiction, in this All Sober video spotlight

August 15, 2022

When Mindy Davey was finishing inpatient treatment for opioid addiction, she recalls, “I wanted to go home and just write music. And so I did just that. I picked up my guitar for the first time in years. And that’s when I was like, ‘Wow. I missed this.'”

The Buffalo, New York–based pop and hip-hop artist rekindled her passion and drew new inspiration from everywhere, particularly her newborn daughter, Arianna. A decade later — Davey will celebrate 10 years of sobriety in September — she has auditioned for “America’s Got Talent” and continued to record and perform, with a new album, “Destiny,” out later this year. Sobriety, she says, “has given me life; it’s given me purpose.” Get to know Mindy, her music and her recovery journey in this All Sober video spotlight!
