Cid Bullens

SINGER | TWO-TIME GRAMMY NOMINEE

About

Two-time Grammy nominee Cidny Bullens’ career has taken him from singing back-up on tour with Elton John, to working with Bob Dylan and Rod Stewart, to singing three lead vocals on the “Grease” movie soundtrack. Cidny has released nine critically acclaimed solo albums, including the award-winning “Somewhere Between Heaven and Earth.” Cid’s friends on the albums include Bonnie Raitt, Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, Bryan Adams, Emmylou Harris, Delbert McClinton, and Sir Elton John himself.

Cidny has also cowritten many country songs in Nashville, including Radney Foster’s hit “Hammer and Nails.” Since 2007, Cidny has been one-third of the “super-group” The Refugees with Wendy Waldman and Deborah Holland. The Refugees’ 2023 album release “California,” their first in five years, has garnered stellar reviews.

In 2012, Cidny made the difficult and daunting decision to transition from female to male, from Cindy to Cidny. He has written and has been performing his one-person theatrical show, “Somewhere Between: Not An Ordinary Life,” all over the U.S. An award-winning documentary short about his life called “The Gender Line” screened at major film festivals around the world from 2019 to 2022.

Kill Rock Stars Records (Nashville) released Cid’s first album since transitioning, “Little Pieces,” in October 2023. The first single, “Not With You,” released in the summer of 2023, is a soulful duet written with Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Beth Nielsen Chapman

Cid’s memoir, “TransElectric: My Life as a Cosmic Rock Star,” with a foreword by Sir Elton John, was released on June 6, 2023. It is getting rave reviews and is available online on all major bookstore sites and in your local bookstore.

"There were not many young people coming into the recovery rooms in the '70s, especially if you were in the business of rock 'n' roll. I was very fortunate to get clean and sober when I did. The strong foundation I received in from the old-timers in those early L.A. meetings, the emphasis on the 12 Steps, along with the fellowship of my peers in the program kept me in good stead for the hard challenges of my life that were to come. Now, as an old-timer myself, I always say that I haven't done the program anywhere near perfectly. The only thing I've done right in 47 years is to not pick up a drink or a drug, no matter what, one day at a time."
