Home for the holidays or just out of town? If you’re in recovery, that means you’ll have to miss in-person meetings with your recovery “home group” where you usually live.

But it doesn’t mean that you’re cut off from your sober support network. You can, of course, attend meetings or even counseling wherever you’re vacationing, but in some situations, you may want to hear a familiar voice, and that’s what your cell is for. If this season gets you frazzled, it’s especially important to keep this in mind.

Kasim Sulton, formerly the bassist with Utopia, is frequently on the road touring, so he knows a few things about protecting his recovery while traveling. Check out his real-life recovery tip!
