All Sober in Chicago
A great town for recovery, come sun, rain or snow! Check out our video guide to the Windy City's best sober options for bars, bottle shops — and even an arcade with vintage games
There’s never been a better time to be sober in Chicago. The city has always enticed visitors and locals with its restaurant scene, comedy clubs and museums, but many of the coolest, newest spots are doing exciting things with nonalcoholic drinks and sober activities now. For people in recovery and the sober curious alike, Chicago is a “second city” in nickname only.
Follow All Sober correspondent McCarton Ackerman on a tour through the best sober hangout spots in the city he calls home, in the latest installment of our All Sober In video series!
In Good Spirits, a brand new nonalcoholic bar and bottle shop, offers a huge array of creative and bespoke NA drinks and cocktail mixes for entertaining at home. With two locations, Emporium Arcade gives grown-ups the chance to revisit favorite vintage arcade games and pinball machines while sipping zero-proof cocktails. The Phoenix, a nationwide sober activity organization, has a strong presence in Chicago, hosting everything from pickleball to yoga to, yes, improv classes — all week long. After sunset, don’t miss Elixir Lounge, a downtown bar with a focus on creative mocktails.
