Manhattan’s East Village has long been a place that sets the pace of what’s cool in nightlife. But we were still a little surprised to discover Hekate Café & Elixir Lounge, the city’s only brick-and-mortar sober bar.
Why? All Sober correspondent Ricky Byrd stepped inside to find a dive-chic spot with occult allure, dedicated entirely to serving nonalcoholic beers, zero-proof wines, and complex cocktails and elixirs. More than that, it’s a space where long-term sober and sober-curious patrons can mingle and feel comfortable. Hear what it’s all about from founder and mixology veteran Abby Ehmann!
